Employee engagement is critical to maximizing the value of an employer’s benefits portfolio. Innovative tools and programs can be implemented to achieve employees’ behavior change; however, engagement with such tools can be often difficult to predict and influence.
Scott Matthews of Castlight Health has managed communications for some of the most prominent employers in the U.S. His work has helped employers achieve engagement rates of up to 80%.
In this white paper, he discusses:
•Six drivers of employee engagement
•Why each factor affects engagement
•Three employer case studies
Millennials (a.k.a. Generation Y), defined as people born anywhere from 1980 to 1999, have access to technology, communications, and publishing that simply wasn’t available decades ago. As a result, they have demands for career and lifestyle that are often different than older generations.
To find out what it takes to draw in this highly sought-after community, we asked recruiters and anyone hiring young talent what they believe are the “must-adopt” recruiting techniques for hiring Millennials.

When planned and executed well, a self-service system increases employee satisfaction and efficiency and reduces costs for both the employer and the employee. However, careful execution and the ability to respond to problems as they come up can be crucial to the maintenance of employee satisfaction and participation levels.

Often, there will be core areas where your company is willing to take risks in order to generate returns, such as entering a new market or developing a new product. • Are our communications with employees reaching the intended audiences and having the desired effect?
• Are our investigations thorough and effective?
• Do we need more training?
• Do we need to review or update our policies?

A compensation package is made up of clear-cut numbers and policies, but the subject of pay is far from black-and-white — there are lots of emotions involved, whether positive or negative. This can make talking comp with employees stressful.
Not to worry. This eBook exists to help you get pay-talk right. We’ll review the importance of effective compensation communication, discuss where breakdowns occur and of course, outline strategies and tactics for improving your organization’s pay communications.
The widespread use of mobile devices — smartphones and tablets — provides anytime, anywhere computing and communications resources for individuals worldwide. Both smartphones and tablets have made the transition from a personal resource, acquired and supported by consumers, to a professional resource, provided and supported by employers. For midsize firms around the world, those with 100–999 employees, mobile resources play a key role in improving workplace productivity as well as allowing greater flexibility in how and where work is done.
New collaboration resources also allow staff in different locations to work together as efficiently and effectively as staff in the same office. The challenge for IT management is how best to coordinate the different collaborative and mobile resources and provide secure management of mobile devices and collaboration tools while enhancing workforce agility and productivity.
So, while the advertising industry is in the midst of profound change, it’s hard to be certain about the form that it will take in future. There’s good reason to be optimistic, rather than pessimistic. Firstly, as we saw earlier, the proliferation of digital platforms means that there are now more canvases for creativity than ever before. And secondly, recent discoveries in psychology and behavioural science have highlighted how human decision making – in any context – is often unconscious or non-rational. As a result, the range of problems where creative communication can offer a solution is wider than ever previously realised.
